When people see our $38++ Omakase at Hana, the first reaction is usually the same: “Is this real? Can it actually be good at that price?”

Fair question. In Singapore, Omakase usually means a big budget and a special occasion. So how do we do a full multi-course Omakase from $38++ a head on Orchard Road?

Honestly? It started out of necessity.

The story behind the $38 Omakase:

After the hype of the flying noodles around 2019, we had a real problem: empty seats. And empty seats are every restaurant’s nightmare. The rent, the food, the staff — none of it stops just because the tables are quiet.

So we made a call. Instead of letting seats sit empty, we’d offer something everyone could actually afford to try. Not a watered-down version. Not a shortcut. A proper chef-curated Omakase at a price that would fill the room and let the food do the talking.

That’s how the $38++ Omakase came about.

What we didn’t see coming

We figured people would come in. We didn’t expect what happened after they sat down.

Most guests came for the $38++ — and ended up upgrading to the $58++. No pressure from us. They just saw the value in the food offered in the $58++ menu and wanted more.

The $38++ turned into our best marketing. It got people through the door, and the food took care of the rest.

These days the $58++ is our most popular menu — the one regulars come back for week after week. And the $88++ Premium is there for anyone who wants to go all in: Foie Gras, Wagyu, Toro and more.

But we never dropped the $38++

Because we think everyone should get to eat great Japanese food. It’s still here, still generous, still chef-crafted, still worth every dollar. It’s the menu that started everything, and the one we’re proudest of.
